The history of the Department of Smart Road and Airport Engineering dates back to the Road Engineering Section of the Department of Civil Engineering at National Central University in 1928. It stands as one of the oldest and most venerable programs in China’s road and transportation sector. After a century of evolution, the department has established itself as a National Distinguished Program with a pioneering role. Today, it has grown into a world-renowned and domestic first-class hub for high-level scientific research and talent cultivation.
The department currently hosts a National-level Teaching Team and a curriculum of National Quality Courses. Our infrastructure includes National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers, National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Centers, and multiple provincial and ministerial key laboratories. Our faculty features a high-caliber academic echelon, including one Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, one member of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program," and several leading innovators recognized by the Ministry of Transport.
