Recently, the Provincial Department of Education released the selection results for provincial Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering Colleges, designating 10 colleges for approved construction across the province. The Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering College proposed by our school has been successfully selected for this initiative.
Pursuant to the Notice on Issuing the Construction Plan for Featured Colleges with Specialized Disciplines in Jiangsu Universities (Su Jiao Gao Han [2024] No. 13) and the Notice on Launching Provincial Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering Colleges (Su Jiao Gao Han [2025] No. 15) issued by the Provincial Department of Education and five other departments, the province has launched the construction of featured colleges for low-altitude technology and engineering. The goal is to develop these into world-class, domestically leading bases for interdisciplinary talent cultivation and technological innovation in the low-altitude economy, guiding Jiangsu universities to optimize disciplinary layouts for low-altitude industry development and rank among the nation's best. The initiative will foster numerous innovative, interdisciplinary professionals, produce landmark achievements in theory, policy, and key technologies, and bolster Jiangsu's establishment of a globally prominent low-altitude economy hub.
The Provincial Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering College is established under the College of Transportation, Southeast University. With a century-long history, the College of Transportation has achieved A+/first place in three consecutive rounds of national disciplinary evaluations for Transportation Engineering. It was selected as a "Double First-Class" construction discipline in both 2017 and 2022, and ranked world No. 1 in the 2021 ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
In 2024, the college was approved for the Outstanding Engineer Graduate Training Program in Smart Airport and Low-Altitude Economy. In 2025, the college welcomed its first cohort of undergraduate students majoring in Smart Transportation (Smart Low-Altitude Direction). In the same year, the college became one of the first approved to establish a doctoral authorization point in the interdisciplinary field of Low-Altitude Technology and Engineering and launched its first doctoral enrollment.Currently, the college hosts four national first-class undergraduate programs including Traffic Engineering and Transportation, one emerging engineering undergraduate program in Smart Transportation, and has two programs—Traffic Engineering and Road, Bridge and River-Crossing Engineering—selected for the third phase of the Provincial Brand Specialty Construction Project.
