On April 26, 2025, the First Southeast University Forum on the Integration of Transportation, Tourism, and Health was successfully held. The forum was organized by the "Major Research Team on Integrated Transportation and Tourism" from the School of Transportation at Southeast University and co-organized by the Institute of Health and Society at Southeast University. Experts, scholars, and graduate students from numerous universities and related institutions, including Southeast University, Peking University, Nanjing University, East China Normal University, and Nanjing University of Technology, participated in the event.

In the afternoon of April 26th, the opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Associate Professor Jiang Ying from Southeast University. First, Dean Ma Tao of the School of Transportation at Southeast University delivered a welcome speech. He began by extending a warm welcome to all the scholars. He then emphasized that the urgent need for integration among the fields of transportation, tourism, and health in the new stage of national development has brought new opportunities to the industry. The School of Transportation at Southeast University has been closely following the national development strategy, actively upgrading and transforming in recent years, and has laid out several new interdisciplinary fields. The interdisciplinary team of scholars on transportation, tourism, and health has been a shining example within the school. Finally, he thanked all the experts, colleagues, and friends for their support and hoped that this forum would serve as a starting point to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to the development of disciplines, the nation, society, and talent cultivation.Subsequently, Academician Zhang Junyi, the chief professor of the School of Transportation at Southeast University, elaborated on the background and theme of the forum, introduced the participating experts, and expressed his expectation that the scholars and experts would jointly promote the interdisciplinary research on the integration of transportation, tourism, and health.

After the opening ceremony, the session moved on to the report and exchange segment, during which 12 scholars delivered fascinating presentations.Professor Zhang Junyi from Southeast University, in his presentation titled "Urban Immunology and the Integration of Transportation, Tourism, and Health," explored the knowledge transfer of urban immunology theory in the fields of transportation and urban planning, based on the DIRECT policy process management method. He proposed an integrated mechanism and application recommendations for the convergence of transportation, tourism, and health. Subsequently, Professor Zhen Feng from Nanjing University, in his report "Urban AI and Human Settlements," discussed the application of urban AI in creating a livable environment, emphasizing the pivotal role of information systems and the trend of interdisciplinary integration.Professor Yu Bin from Southeast University, in his presentation "Analysis of the Current Status and Prospects of the Integrated Development of Transportation and Tourism," analyzed the development of the transportation-tourism integration industry, pointing out the trend of "fast transportation and slow travel." He reviewed relevant policies and research status and proposed future directions for systematic interdisciplinary development. Professor Xu Feifei from Southeast University, in her presentation "Spatial-Temporal Characteristics and Influencing Factors of Transportation-Tourism Integration," used Airbnb listings in Nanjing and London as examples to explore the impact of shared accommodation on transportation-tourism integration, highlighting its importance as a service carrier.Researcher Hu Yang from Nanjing University, in his report "Study on Residents' Space-Time Behavior Based on Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Interaction Technology," focused on V2G technology, addressing the challenges posed by the growth of electric vehicles to the power grid load. He provided a basis for optimizing charging strategies through surveys and analyses of residents' space-time behavior. Associate Researcher Tao Yinhua from Southeast University, in his presentation "Healthy Urban Transportation Behavior System," constructed a framework for a healthy urban transportation behavior system from the perspective of human mobility. He promoted interdisciplinary research on environment, transportation, and health through spatial-temporal interaction theory.Professor Wang Hongman from Southeast University, in her presentation "Traffic Safety and Healthy Aging," examined the traffic safety challenges in an aging society, analyzed the difficulties faced by the elderly in traveling, and proposed strategies to promote travel safety through healthy aging, using Xi'an as a case study to illustrate the problems and solutions.

At last, professor Zhang Dehua, Director of the Expert Committee of the National Transportation Strategy Research Center at Southeast University, delivered the closing remarks. He noted that the conference provided a unique perspective on transportation integration, focusing on topics such as urban immunology, aging society, time cities, vehicle-grid interaction, and driver health. He emphasized that the transportation industry, closely aligned with national strategies, needs to promote "transportation+" integrated innovation and development to enhance the quality of transportation and support economic and social development as well as the improvement of people's lives. He highly affirmed the academic value and practical significance of the conference, highlighting the importance of building a strong transportation nation. He expressed his expectation that the School of Transportation at Southeast University and the National Transportation Strategy Research Center will contribute more wisdom and strength to the national transportation cause and support national development.
